BARCELONA / SALA RAVAL CCCB
The Barcelona Startup Event is a regional Startup Competition that will take place at CCCB - Barcelona Centre of Contemporary Culture (Sala Raval, Calle Montalegre, 5, 08001), in the second half of the year. Because of the current public health emergency, Barcelona Startup Event has been postponed and new dates will soon be announced.
The event belongs to a larger network of international events dedicated to innovation, created by the WMF - We Make Future, in collaboration with local partners.
Barcelona, with its great innovation ecosystem, is the first city chosen for the project, organized thanks to the support of the Catalan Foundation CTecno (Cercle Tècnologic de Catalunya).
The Barcelona Startup Event is totally free and investors, startups, press and visitors can attend the event by fillig the form below.
The WMF is an international festival which celebrates innovation in all its facets. Since 2013, the WMF has been working for the creation of an innovative ecosystem connecting Startups, investors, corporates and incubators and organizing the most important Startup Competition in Southern Europe.
More than 1 million euros have been raised from international partners since the first Startup competition. In 2020, thanks to the help of local partners, the WMF launched a network of events all around the world with the aim of connecting Startups and Social Innovators with Investors and Key Stakeholders.
The Barcelona Startup Event is open to any startups and business - made up of individuals or teams - who want to share their innovative projects or ideas. The applications are open to any kind of startups, with no specific requirement for development stage or industries.
Participants can attend the event as investors, as visitors or as candidates for the competition. All the startups applying as candidates in Barcelona will be evaluated by a dedicated team, and 15 startups will be selected to pitch during the event in front of major investors. The 15 Startups will just have few minutes available to present their project through an elevator pitch. A jury, composed both by investors and professionals, will then choose 3 winners.
The ‘elevator pitch’ is a brief presentation that describes your business venture in a nutshell. A solid elevator pitch needs to convey the business idea in a concise manner, so as to quickly attract your audience's attention.
All the startups attending the event will be granted free entrance to WMF2020 (November 2020, Italy).
The first 3 classified, among the 15 startups chosen to have the elevator pitch in Barcelona, will have access to the following benefits:
