Over a month has passed since the beginning of this perplexing time we are going through. In recent weeks many have asked if we still thought of proceeding with the Festival in June and we have always responded open and honestly.
Since the pandemic broke out we have been constantly monitoring the situation and ensuring we evaluate all possible options, working in constant contact with the Region, with Rimini and with the hosts and institutions. On February 25, the month of June seemed very distant but, in this situation, the speed of time also seems to have changed.
On first reflection our main priority was to derive a way in which we could use our skills and knowledge and address the emergency situation; a way in which we could bring together all those who are connected to WMF and combine our ideologies to serve our society using the WMF platform.
The responses we have experienced from many realities and people clearly demonstrated that what we need is cooperation. So firstly we would like to offer our thanks.
The festival promises to provide an even stronger moment of union than ever before. Together we will celebrate the role that innovation is playing to solve this great problem and the other challenges facing humanity. This edition aims to be a richer experience in which genius, research and creativity will meet to commemorate as one.
The dates that have been chosen for the 2020 edition is the one that seemed most secure given the situation in our country and the numerous international parties involved in the event: November 19, 20 and 21 in Rimini.
During 2020 we will organize numerous online events, some of which will also be held during the dates that were scheduled for the Festival on June 4th, 5th and 6th. We will also create free training events dedicated to those who are already enrolled in WMF2020. We also ensure that the ticket you have purchased will not only enable you access to the new WMF dates but also to the various events and online meetings organized prior to it.
Now, more than ever we need to unite and utilise the technological and innovative tools we have available to lay the foundations of the future.
In this regard, last week we held the first international online event - Start the Future - which brought together Startups, companies, researchers, innovators from all over the world to share innovative ideas and technological solutions to face Covid-19 and rethink the Future.
Start The Future was the first of the online events that we aim to provide: we'll continue to work in the upcoming months to gather all the forces and operators in the sector that allow us to increasingly exploit technology and digital technology to produce social innovation.
Thank you for the support,
The WMF Team
